Deep Conditioning

Deep conditioning adds moisture back into the hair that is removed by daily activities and some styling products. This happens could happen as a result of wearing hats and scarves and during summer /hot weather from sun and wind. I discovered that the best way to replenish lost moisture is to do a weekly deep conditioning treatment.
If you do not have the commercial deep conditioner you get from the Stores, you can use cholesterol e.g. Mayonnaise.

Mix a jar of Mayonnaise/cholesterol with 1/4 cup of olive oil. Put onto clean wet hair and cover with a plastic shower cap. Use a generous amount, enough to cover your hair completely and comb through. You can sit under the dryer for 15 minutes or wrap a towel around you head and leave for 1/2 hour. Rinse thoroughly and style as normal. In 4-6 weeks you should begin to see improvement.

Keeping your hair clean and full is an important part of your lifestyle. If you desire soft, smooth and shinny hair then practice this weekly. If you do not want to use commercial hot oil treatments you can make your own at home.
Wash your hair one day before you start the treatment or same day whichever is convenient for you. This will cleanse your hair of all residual dirt and oils.
Take half a cup of coconut or olive oil. Coconut oil nourishes your scalp and hair and makes it shinier and smoother. Olive Oil also has similar properties except it doesn’t have the same strengthening properties of coconut oil but it is effective in removing dandruff.

Add 2 tablespoons of black seed oil if you have or any other carrier oil you have around you, mix equal parts
Pour the oil in a bowl and add honey (optional) slowly. About 4-5 tbsp would do. The honey is added to make the hot oil easier to apply. Mix the mixture well till the honey is dissolved.
Pour the whole mixture in a microwavable container and give it a final mix. Make sure that the container is not filled to the brim otherwise the oil will spill out.

Microwave the whole mixture for about 2 minutes on HIGH or until the oil has boiled. You will be able to tell if the oil has boiled or not by a rapid crackling sound that comes from it.

When the oil has boiled DO NOT TAKE THE OIL OUT immediately. Let the crackling sound stop and then remove the container out slowly.
Make sure the oil is warm not hot. If not warm yet, let it cool for some time.
Wet your hair and gently massage in the hot oil in your scalp and hair. Use enough oil to coat your hair well. Start from the roots and go all the way to the ends massaging well.
Cover your hair with a shower cap or hair wrap and leave it for an hour to soak up the nutrients.

If you don’t have enough time then take a towel that has been tumble dried or heated, wrap it around your head and sit for about 15-20 minutes.
Wash your hair thoroughly using little quantity of shampoo if you desire for me, I only rinse with water. There is no need to use a conditioner as the hot oil takes its place.
Style as usual.
You can use a stove in place of microwave.
